A big week here at the farm!

  • As expected, Daisie gave birth to a large litter of puppies Saturday.  The litter was larger than expected.  Eleven total puppies, which is a new Frosty Meadow Farms record! (Previous was 10 by Miya, Holly, and Daisie.)  There were 5-all white (1-F, 4-M) and 5-black and white (3-F, 2-M).  One unfortunately, was stillborn.
  • Daisie is now labeled as “SuperMom”.  We are likely going to retire her now, after 4 large litters.   She is coming up on 6 years old, and our feeling is that with her litter sizes (9 puppies ave), her body has been through enough.  It’s time for her to relax and enjoy life!  She is such a good Mom.  It will be difficult to replace her.  We are keeping one of the black and white females, with the intent to carry on the bloodline.  Nadia is also Daisie’s daughter, so she will leave behind a great legacy, and have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and hopefully beyond!
  • Meanwhile, in other litter news, Rose looks to be a couple weeks behind Daisie.  This is Rose’s second litter, so she is still a young mother.  Her first litter was 6, (Luna, Samson, Nala, Kylee, Kenzee, and Kodiak)  Stay tuned for more on her progress.  Still nothing on Holly…(yawn)
  • Next Tuesday is Kallen’s second birthday!  Happy birthday to the original crackhead!
  • The ducks and turkeys are doing well.  We will be moving the ducks outside shortly.  It is now warm enough and they are big enough to handle the elements.  The turkeys still need a few more weeks in the basement.
