Chance’s Condition Explained Further

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Sunday, April 28, 2013, In : Frosty Meadow Happenings

Today was a very rainy and miserable day here at the farm, so the dog’s time out to play was limited.  In lieu of today’s edition of “The Sunday Funnies”, I thought it would be a good time to explain Chance’s condition a little further.  I will include a picture or two from our vet which shows what had to be removed.  Originally, we thought it was the Aorta wrapped around the esophagus.  The term “Persistent Right Aortic Arch” led us down that path.  However, we learned that it ...

Update on Chance

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Friday, April 26, 2013, In : Frosty Meadow Happenings
This is day 2 post op. He has had off and on vomiting since his surgery. He is not tolerating the antibiotic and I think the Vet will change it today. The Vet has decided another day of doggie daycare is needed. While at the Vet’s office yesterday he made it known that he does not like being in a kennel and would howl and cry until they got him out. He was held by the staff all day yesterday and I’m sure it will be the same today. What a spoiled boy! He is such a sweet, playful boy. He do...

Baby Chance is back home recovering!

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Thursday, April 25, 2013, In : Frosty Meadow Happenings
Baby Chance went in to the vet today for his surgery.  Things went well,  and we are cautiously optimistic about his prognosis.  We spoke with the Vet who said Chance pulled through the surgery like a trooper! The surgery took 2 ½ hours. His esophagus is stretched due to holding the milk and he may have to have a future surgery to fix it. The vet is hoping the pouch in his esophagus will shrink on its own. She didn’t want to fix it just in case it does shrink then his esophagus would be to...

Special Surprise!

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, In : Frosty Meadow Happenings
4/22/13
We had a nice surprise today at the farm when we got a text from Rob and Tonya saying they were in the area and would stop by.  Cheyenne and Nadia (sisters) had a lot of fun chasing each other around, playing on the trampoline, and in the pool.  It was good to see and talk to Rob and Tonya, who are truck drivers (over the road) and occasionally are in the area.  Nadia still is about 10 lbs lighter than Cheyanne, and most likely the rest of her siblings.
Great to see you guys!

The Sunday Funnies

Sunday Funnies (or today, maybe we should call it “The week in review”)

·         It was a chilly but very nice weekend here at the farm.  The dogs certainly had their chances to play, but a very busy weekend kept the normal observations to a minimum.  Most of my time while they were out was spent doing farm chores.

·         There are still two puppies remaining from Aleu’s litter as of today.  Both White males.  All of Holly’s are sold, with the exception of Chance.  Ch...

Update on Male #2

With no success in our attempts to feed him, we decided it was time for a vet visit.  He was taken in this evening, and they performed a Barium Swallow Xray on him, and discovered that he had a "persistent right aortic arch".  In layman's terms, he was born with his aorta wrapped around his esophogus and pinching it off.  It is open just large enough for a liquid diet, and therefore had no trouble growing older on mother's milk.
Unfortunately, the only fix is surgery.  It is a very ri...

The Sunday Funnies…In Full Color!

Today, I thought I’d throw in a few pictures with the thoughts and observations:

·         Last summer, I blogged here about “The Best Day Ever” in the world of a husky.  It was about our annual hog roast we hold for our extended families.  It is a feast for us, but for the dogs, it’s a dream come true.

·         I will officially proclaim today as the “Second Best Day Ever”.  Today is the day we pulled out and opened up the swimming pool!!!!

·         I can remembe...

Good news (for the most part)

Nine of the ten of Holly’s puppies are now officially sold, and they are now at the weaning age.  Since Holly had a litter of 10, (very large) we begin our weaning process a little sooner.  We began that process last Thursday.  We are happy to report that the nine puppies that are sold are doing wonderfully on the “4-Health” soft food.  (Our brand of choice for puppies) As a whole, they are all a little thinner than normal, but with a litter that large it actually becomes “no...

I'm back!

  • I have been away from civilization for a few days, chaperoning a camp for my son's sixth grade class.  We all had a lot of fun, and the kids learned a lot about nature, teamwork, and core values.  It was a great experience!
  • On the home front, Heather held down the fort, and tended to the dogs, as well as helping out with any people visiting to pick out their puppy.
  • As of today, all of Holly's puppies are either sold or sale pending, with two more visiting today and tomorrow.  We still hav...

The Sunday Funnies!

·         For the third weekend in a row, it’s been difficult to get though the normal blog routine.  The “Saturday Stories” was once again pre-empted by an unforeseen circumstance.  Saturday itself was quite eventful, including the addition of our newest horse “Buffalo Hunter”, or “Hunter” as we call him.  This was a big event, but it was overshadowed by the Appendicitis flare-up that overcame Jenna, my daughter.  I am certainly happy to report that she is doing well...

Puppy Picture Day!

Puppy picture day!

Today was the first puppy picture day at the farm for Holly’s litter.  Aleu’s will follow soon.  Many times we are asked, “How do you tell them apart, and know which one I picked?”  It is a VERY valid question.  Some litters are very easy, and others are very difficult.  An example of an easy one was Rose’s recent litter.  There were 6 puppies in all.  Two were all-white, one male, one female.  No problems there!  One of the remaining four was red and w...
