Friday Focus...Sheba

Meet the Siberian Huskies…Part 8…Sheba

In the summer of 2010, we received an email wondering if we take in rescues.  We took in Akira earlier, and we decided we could still handle one additional Husky.  Rescuing Huskies is something we hope to one day do more of, but currently are very limited.  We currently will only take in puppies that came from us and try to re-home them.  But back to Sheba.  At that time, we thought she would be a good fit as a second house dog.  Her owners came a...

Demon and Denali, as pups.

Holly, Brutus, and Daisie pose with Denali trying to hide.

Nugget..my all time favorite cat. With Zach, Sheba, and Akira in the background.

One I almost forgot about...One of Peyton's puppies burrows her way out!  Mom is oblivious.  This puppy is too young to act like a teenager!

Puppy Holly..Aaawwweee!  Wasn't she a cutie?

Zach and Akira playing in the leaves.

And finally...Sheba.  RIP girl!

Wednesday Weekly Update 9-25-13

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, In : Frosty Meadow Happenings

Miya’s puppies turn 6 weeks old today!  They have been given their clean bill of health by our vet, and will be receiving their shots over the next couple days.  They are fully weaned from Miya, and are eating and drinking very well.  They are as cute and playful as can be!

Miya has done very well with the weaning.  Some of the mothers do better than others, and she is one of the better!   Aleu, for example, will whine and cry for days.

Chance went along on the vet visit with Miya’s...

Tuesday Tech Talk...What do I feed my Husky?

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, In : Tech Talk

What do I feed my husky??

With Miya’s puppies soon going to their new homes, we felt a good topic for today’s “TechTalk” would be feeding your husky.  When you bring home your new husky puppy, obviously you need to stop and get some food.  Many ask us what we have been feeding them, so they can get some of the same.  (It’s not good to abruptly switch foods).  Normally we use “4-Health” brand Puppy Food, which we consider to be a very good brand, and we provide a few meals wor...

Sunday Funnies, on Monday again!

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Monday, September 23, 2013, In : Sunday Funnies

Monday edition of the Sunday Funnies…(again!)

Seems like the computer issues at home just don’t want to go away.  We may be heading for a new one.  Good in some ways, not good in others.   I will have to temporarily suspend weekend posting. It seems only during the week, when I can go into work a little early and use my computer there, can I get a post done.  Oh well…

It’s the first full day of Autumn, as it began Sunday at 4:44pm.  (Can you get it a little more precise?  Like do...

Friday Focus...Cartoon Alter Ego, Demon.

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Friday, September 20, 2013, In : Friday Focus

In today’s edition of "Friday Focus", we will do a Cartoon Alter Ego.  This being another re-post about Demon.

From the very beginning, Demon has been tough to figure out.  He certainly hasn’t lived up to his name!  He has always had a very “standoffish” behavior.  Even as a puppy, Demon preferred to be off on his own, and rarely get involved in the running around with the others.  He would on occasion, but mostly he prefers to sit back and watch.  The only theory I can come up with ...

Wednesday Weekly Update...9-18-13

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, In : Frosty Meadow Happenings
As the summer comes to a close, we prepare for the upcoming autumn and winter.  This is certainly the dogs favorite time of the year, and they already seem to enjoy the nicer weather.
  • Miya's puppies are 5 weeks old now, and are as playful as can be.  They are now at the point of full weaning, and seem to have taken to the 4-Health canned food very well.  Soon, they will be able to the the 4-Health kibble as well.  We will be separating Miya from them today.  She really seems to want a break ...

Meet the Siberian Huskies…Part 7…Akira

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Friday, September 13, 2013, In : Friday Focus

Akira came to us in the fall of 2009, after a friend of a friend could no longer care for her.  They came for a visit to see how well she would get along with the others, and at first it seemed there would be no issues.  We decided to take her in, and we put her with the others.  It didn’t take long for us to realize however, that Akira was different from any Husky we have or have ever met.  She was very timid, and wanted nothing to do with the others.  The others (especially Daisie) se...

Wednesday Weekly Update 9-11-13

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, In : Frosty Meadow Happenings
  • First, let us take a moment to remember the heroes who fell or were injured on this fateful day 12 years ago.  We will NEVER forget!
  • Also, we remember those who lost their lives in the Benghazi attacks one year ago.
  • We should all take a moment today to bow in prayer for peace on earth.
  • Miya’s puppies are 4 weeks old today.  Their vet check appointment is set, and they are to begin the weaning process soon!  One male and one female still remain unsold!
  • The heat continues.  Even Peanut ...

Tuesday Tech Talk...Those Pesky Fleas

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, In : Tech Talk

On today’s version of Husky Tech Talk, we will again broach everyone’s favorite subject when dealing with pets:  Fleas

These resilient little creatures are among the most hated insects on earth, and when an infestation occurs, steps need to be taken or they spread very quickly.

I wrote here about them last year because they came around with a vengeance after no signs of them for several years.  This year, we are feeling some of the residual effects from them.  They are much lower in...

Monday Motivation...The Two Pots

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Monday, September 9, 2013, In : Monday Motivation

This inspirational story will make you smile, but it is also full of words of wisdom. Many times in life we are like the pot, we see what we can't do rather than seeing what we can do.

A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which he carried across his neck.  One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only...

It's catch up time!

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Sunday, September 8, 2013, In : Frosty Meadow Happenings
Wow...I need to shake the dust off this computer, and get back to the blog!
After some nasty sicknesses that rampaged through our home, it's finally "get back on track" time!  Instead of the Sunday Funnies, today will be a simple update.
  • Miya's puppies are coming up on four weeks old.  They all have blue eyes, and are doing well.  It's almost time for their vet visit, and also to start the weaning process.
  • There are still two puppies available.  One of the males, and the female.  Oddly, even...

Tuesday Tech Talk...Huskies aren't human!

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, In : Tech Talk

Siberian Huskies are NOT human!

As I was out watching the dogs the other day, I noticed (as I have many times before) that they all seem to want to eat anything.  So today I thought I’d touch on something that basically is to remind us that Siberian Huskies (and dogs in general) are not human.  Sounds pretty straight forward I know, but when you think about it, we all need to be reminded once in a while.

By nature, dogs are almost scavengers.  If you’ve ever sat and watched a dog be...

Sunday Funnies...Special Labor Day Addition

Posted by Andrew Kronenberger on Monday, September 2, 2013,
Happy Labor Day Everyone!
To celebrate this long weekend, I took a day off from writing.  (because I'm allowed, that's why!)
So this weeks Sunday Funnies come to you on  Monday
  • After a LONG week plus of hot, humid days, it seems relief is in sight.  The dog days are upon us.  Hopefully with September now here, fall will be in the air!  One thing is for certain, if the muggy days and nights aren't enough to tell the story, then the singing cicada's definitely are.  For whatever reason, they like ...
