Meet the Siberian Huskies…Part 2…Brutus

After Holly, we truly realized how much we loved the Siberian Husky Breed.  We decided it was time to expand the pack.  Our second Siberian Husky was Brutus.  Brutus was our only CKC registered Husky.  CKC is the “Continental Kennel Club”.  We really didn’t know the ins and outs of kennel clubs at the time, so we didn’t think it made much of a difference.  Holly was non-registered, and we were wanting to be certain all of them from that point on were registered.  We wanted AKC, and quickly learned that there is a big difference.  We believed Brutus to be a purebred, but seeing the process CKC goes through makes us uncertain.  Let’s just say CKC is not strict and leave it at that.  From that point on, we decided against CKC Huskies.  Future Huskies would be AKC only.

Brutus was a very loving and even tempered Husky.  He was a gentle giant.  He was our only Husky to eclipse the 70 lb. mark.  Brutus truly craved the human touch.  Many times, he preferred to just sit next to us and watch the others play.  Everyone who ever visited our farm commented on how big and beautiful he was, and how he was one of their favorites.

You might notice I refer to Brutus in the past tense.  Brutus tragically passed away in the fall of 2012 from a digestive failure.  The veterinarian determined that his entire system simply shut down.  While we don’t know the exact cause, we can narrow it down to a few.

At this point however, we have chosen to let him rest in peace and move on.

Brutus was, and still is the face of Frosty Meadow Farms.  He, along with Holly, is pictured in the banner image at the top of every page of our website, and his picture is the profile picture of our Facebook page.  He will always be remembered.
