Friday Focus: Meet the Siberian Huskies, Part 9…Aleu
Our next Husky in line was Aleu. By this time, we decided that expanding the pack was going to continue to be an integral part of our future plans. We had decided that we only wanted to focus on Siberian Huskies of AKC Pedigree and Lineage. To this point, all of our Huskies (except Sheba) were black and white, all-white, or gray and white. We decided to look for a red and white, since we had some individuals inquiring on red and white puppies. In March of 2010, we found a 10 week old Aleu. Aleu was a happy active and vibrant puppy, but we had one issue. Not a health issue mind you, but rather an issue with the AKC paperwork. Since we wanted only AKC Huskies, we asked on several occasions to be certain she was AKC. Looking back, the response was always, “Sure…She is AKC Registerable”. When we arrived to pick up Aleu, we were told that the paperwork hadn’t arrived yet. We brought Aleu home, and to this day have never acquired the paperwork, nor any credentials to prove her parents were AKC. Needless to say, we were not happy. In our years of owning and breeding Huskies, we have run across a number of scams, questionable practices, and downright dishonest people. These experiences have taught us a number of lessons. Our goal from the outset was to be honest breeders that make it a point to do everything the right way. These experiences make us want to be trustworthy even more. The one common denominator from everyone who buys puppies from us is that they simply want to find a new family member without headaches. They also want to trust that they will receive a great, healthy puppy, and that we are there to answer any questions they may have. We do our best to accomplish those goals and continue to improve on them.
Back to Aleu…(off my soapbox now)
As I mentioned, Aleu as a puppy was very loving, and hyperactive. Today, she remains the same. She is very vocal in voicing her displeasure about anything from not being let out to play first to being weaned from her puppies. Of all of our mother’s, she is by far the toughest to wean from her puppies. She is a very good and protective mother, and does not like any of us handling her puppies.
During normal times, her free spirit often gets her in trouble. She is rapidly gaining on Holly as the number one escape artist. We refuses to stay in the fenced play area, and if our backs are turned, she won’t hesitate to roll under the fence and start her adventure. She is a handful, but very beautiful and loving.
