• It’s been an uneventful week here at the farm.  It’s the “calm before the storm” week if you will.  Next week the fair begins, and most of the preparations have been made.  So now we wait.
  • The hay field was cut for the second time this past week.  We split the hay 50/50 with the guy that cuts and bales it.   Last year, it was cut four times and due to a dry summer, our share was only about 180 bales total.  This year, it’s been a very good season so far.  In two cuts, we already eclipsed that number.  Our share is already at about 210 bales!  We still have 2-3 more cuts!
  • Don’t get me wrong…Abundance is a good thing.  But where to put it!  We are already at max capacity.
  • Eventually, when I finally complete the barn projects, we will have considerably more loft space.  But this year it will be an issue.
  • Nothing new on the Husky front.  They are enjoying the recent cooler weather.
  • Chance is really starting to grow.  He is well over 20 lbs.  Any concerns about his health are pretty much in the past, but he is still on the special diet.  He is handling more food, more often now.  No more formula is necessary.  We now feed him 4-Health canned food, and mix in ground up 4-Health Puppy kibble.  We mix in some water to make it more soupy, but it’s not as liquidy as it was before.  About the consistency of a Wendy’s Frosty.
  • The biggest concern that remains is that he still wants to eat everything.  He can handle a very small amount of solid food, but if he gets too much it will back up in his esophagus.  So we still have to be careful.  He has really come a long way though!
  • Heather gets the credit for nursing him to health.  The kids and I helped a little, but her nursing and motherly instincts are the reason he is where he is today!
