As mentioned in a previous post, we are coming up on our next round of puppies. Rose is expected to have her first litter in week or so. Rose had her first heat cycle very early. (At around 6 months!) Normally, the first comes 8-12 months, but Rose was an early bloomer. There was some miscommunication over who the Father was going to be between Heather and myself. I thought she had said it was Demon, but in our discussions she told me it wasn't him, but rather Kallen. I did not think Kallen was ready yet, but Heather was the witness to this particular mating due to my hectic work schedule. At any rate, we expect this litter soon!
Holly and Aleu are also expected to have litters about a month later. Both had a litter back in July/August, so this is a VERY rare case of litters on back-to-back heat cycles. We only do this as a "litter management" move. Normally, skipping heat cycles is best, but we spoke to our vet and determined both were very healthy and could easily handle it. This will prevent a large backup of puppies in August. The Father of Holly's litter is Kallen. This one I witnessed, but again, I wasn't sure Kallen was quite ready yet. At this point, Holly isn't showing the pregnancy, but I am confident now that I know Kallen was ready.
