Sunday Funnies!
- Well…What a difference a week makes weather-wise! From an intolerable cold to sweatshirt weather. It gave me a opportunity to observe the dogs a little on Sunday while they were out playing. Daisie had to come out early, and go back in before I let the others out because it finally looks like she is starting her long awaited heat cycle. So we should soon be able to approximate the date her litter soon!
- She wasn’t happy with having to come back in when the others were out, but it was certainly in the best interest of all. She gets very moody!
- Since Nadia is only a week or two from delivery, she stayed in the house. Same idea as Daisie. She is moody and a fight would not be good in her condition! Plus she seems to prefer it in the house!
- Chance meanwhile, had the time of his life! Kallen and Rose still try to make him their little whipping post, but now Chance will play just as roughly. Chance seems to be a combination of the playfulness and athleticism of Holly, and the reckless abandon of Kallen. His latest nickname is Crackhead. (hee hee!)
- Speaking of Holly’s athleticism, she certainly still has it, even as she gets older. When I put Kallen out there, he took off running. Holly turned around and darted toward the deck, jumped up onto it and then leaped high in the air over the air conditioning unit. I don’t exaggerate when I say that the leap covered at least 10 feet, and she was 5-6 feet off the ground! Of course she landed and took off as gracefully as a gazelle.
- We’ve noticed Chance doing similar leaps lately. When we let him out in the back, he always makes it a point to leap high and far off the deck. Like mama, Like son!
- It was very muddy, since we had the melt off, and about a half inch of rain. Most of them seem to stay relatively clean, except for their paws. The four that will always come out of it muddy are Kallen, Rose, Aleu and of course Chance.
- And what a treat it is to give Crackhead a bath! Heather fell on that grenade. Chance got clean and dry….but Heather and the entire bathroom of course got muddy and wet.
- So Billy is now an indoor/outdoor cat. He has always loved our company, and now he learning to get along with Chance, Nadia, and Akira. So far so good. Problem is, he is going to trust the other 8 when outside. NOT a good idea! He of course was flirting with disaster yesterday. But I think deep down he knows, and he is simply toying with them. He will only get just close enough to torment them.
- A special treat Sunday after play time was pig femurs. Tractor Supply and Rural King sells them for usually $2-3 each. Rural King had them on sale for $1 each so we bought a bunch. They absolutely love them and will chew on them until they are gone. It normally keeps them occupied for a couple hours. I recommend them!
- We had another story contribution from Rob , Tonya, and Cheyenne. This is from them:
“On new years eve, we went to tractor supply and took Cheyenne in with us, while shopping, Cheyenne found a toy she wanted. She picked the toy up in her mouth and carried it around the store and when it was time to check out, she carried it to the counter. She put her front feet on the counter and allowed the cashier to have her toy long enough for her to scan it, then she took it back. She carried it out of the store, out to the car, got in the car and got in her create and laid down with her toy. Wouldn't even let Tonya take the cardboard and tags off of it. She really wanted that toy. Lol.”

We love story contributions like this! Please feel free to share yours as well!
Lastly, I leave you with a few pictures from around Christmas…

Everyone gets along at Christmas time!
Eddie and Peyton...They both passed away last year, a couple days apart.

Most Huskies jump at the cold, snowy, muddy, wet, nasty weather!

Not Nadia!!

Bad dogs at Christmas!

So don't lie to Santa and say you were good!!
