Sunday Tidbits!

Sunday Tidbits and observations!
· It’s great to see a nice snowfall. No doubt the dogs love that. With every snowfall however, comes the eventual melt off. Today was 60 degrees, and while the warmth is wonderful, the tradeoff is MUD!
· It is an absolute mess out here, and the dogs really don’t mind a bit. Sometimes I think they like it better than snow.
· Oh, and joyous news! What better to follow up a slopfest with the prediction of a “good soaking rain”. That’s REALLY what we need!
· Kallen and Nadia are fast becoming buds.
· Holly is really getting close to giving birth, and it shows. She is lying around and not showing her normal energetic self.
· Daisie and Denali are chasing each other around in large circles. Those two have always gotten along well. Many times they are stall mates, and we can trust that there won’t be trouble.
· Today, we are getting a stall ready for Holly. We expect her to give birth any day now, so it’s time to separate her from the rest.
· We are also weaning Rose from her puppies. She does NOT like it one bit! At this point, she is separated from them during the day and with them at night. During the day, we will then feed them puppy food, and give them the normal water bowl.
· At night we put Rose back in with them. If we didn’t, the neighborhood may not get much sleep!
· As time moves on, we try to separate her even more. Some have no problem with it, but some get a bad case of separation anxiety. Rose looks like the latter. L
· Nadia has been officially initiated into the club. She was lying on the ground and one by one, Denali, Daisie, and Kallen each came running over and urinated on her! Needless to say, it’s now bath time!
· So I hear one of the puppies squealing very loudly and I go to check on them to see what’s going on. I was expecting to see one of them had a paw stuck somewhere. Not this time. Another puppy had its tail in her mouth and was pulling her around the stall! After I had a good laugh, I came to the rescue of the poor puppy.
