• Welcome to March!!  After a very long winter, March is finally here.  Thoughts of green enter my mind.  Both the green grass and leaves that are around the corner, and the green of St. Patrick’s Day!  Being ¼ Irish, I enjoy celebrating the festivities.  Perhaps not as much as others, but a beverage or two is always in order!
  • Well, March decided to come in like a lion…the biggest lion on the safari!  I am guessing 6 or so inches of snow fell here today.  At least it warmed to around 30 degrees.  It made the normal chores much more tolerable.  Of course a snowstorm is indeed fun for all!

  • This coming Tuesday, they are predicting a rainstorm.  Two inches plus of rain, plus the melting snow pack, leads to the inevitable flooding!  We are prepared with the equine fresh if/when the corner stall floods.  It’s all part of Spring.  Happens every year!
  • Update on Nadia’s puppies:  They are fully separated from Mama, and certainly becoming little terrors as usual.  I walked through their set up in the garage, and within 30 seconds, both my boot laces were untied, they were trying to chew a hole in my sweat pants, and biting my legs.  Just being the playful pups that they are.  They have all been given the clean bill of health by our vet, and are awaiting their new homes.  Owners, we will be contacting you soon!  (If we haven’t already)
  • Miya’s pups are also growing doing well.  They are in the weaning process, and will be separated from Miya soon.  We will bringing them into the same kennel area that we set up in the garage for the duration of their stay.  One last round of pictures of Miya’s pups will be coming mid week.
  • Speaking of puppies, I feel the need to give another shout out to Gary Kirby of Kirby’s butcher shop.  We buy our beef and hog from Gary for our family, but he also provides us with a lot of beef liver and beef heart for our dogs.  It is an invaluable and integral part of our diet for pregnant and nursing mothers, and we believe it ensures proper development of the brain functions of the puppies.  Not to mention it’s a yummy treat!  The other dogs get it too, but not the steady diet that the mother gets during the time of extreme need for calories and nutrition.
  • So yeah, if anyone lives in Miami or Darke Counties (or surrounding areas) I HIGHLY recommend Kirby’s Butcher Shop outside Arcanum on Arcanum-Bears Mill Rd.
  • I noticed the other day that Kallen and Demon are both starting their annual moulting!  They all do it every year, but normally not until later in the spring.  I couldn’t help but think that they may need to hang onto it a little while longer!  It was freezing the day I noticed!!
  • A quick note for anyone who hasn’t noticed on Facebook:  You can now follow us on Twitter @FrostyMeadowAK.  Also, I wanted to remind everyone that this website does work better using Firefox or Chrome.  Internet Explorer tends to have fits, and funny things happen.  It’s gotten better since my new computer has the latest version of IE, but still not perfect.  I simply use Firefox and no longer think about it.
  • And one final note:  I am wanting to add a testimonial page to the website.  I am asking (hoping!) that I can get a few/several/many of you to email me with yours to andy@frostymeadowhuskyfarm.com.  Oh, and feel free to give us a rating (please good!) on our Facebook page if you haven’t already!  Thanks!
