• Another busy week here at the farm.  Now that all of the pups are in their new homes, we now turn our focus to the turkeys, which arrived on Wednesday!  We are happy to report that so far all have survived the trip, and the first several days here.

  • Several weeks ago, we took in Lula (From Rose/Kallen 2014) and Czar (From Miya/Kallen 2013) from the BoSheers.  Due to health issues, they were unable to give them the care they needed.  It was a VERY difficult decision for the BoSheers.  They truly loved these two dogs.  We held off in making any announcements because the hope was that maybe this would be a temporary fostering, but the decision was made (by them) to make it permanent.  Their main wish was that they be happy, and I can say they truly are.  Instead of re-homing them, we have opted to keep them.  Czar and Zach have become best buds.  He follows Zach everywhere, and sleeps with him.  Lula has also fit in well and is adjusting.  Since Lula was still fairly young, she has not been spayed.  We have been wanting to continue the bloodline of Rose, so she will be a perfect fit for this.  She has already had her first heat cycle, and we figure later this fall could be when she has her first litter.  We hope that everyone will keep the BoSheers in their prayers, as they battle through the health issues they have encountered.  They are still very much part of the Frosty Meadow Family!

  • The biggest beneficiary of Czar’s presence (besides Zach ) has to be Kallen.  In the human world, a father taking his two sons out is a joy.  Whether it be fishing, sports, auto racing or whatever, the father/son bond is a great thing.  It is funny to see Kallen run and play with Czar and Chance.  Three crackheads in a pod!
  • This weekend was also when we finally completed the second horse pasture.  The original pasture is almost completely mud, and needed re-seeding.  The new fences are up, and the horses have not lifted their heads up from munching on the grass yet!
  • We also rolled the old pasture.  Fun fun!!  Most of it was soft enough to roll well, but one area was, um, a bit murky yet.  The truck got stuck and even though we were able to get it back out without assistance, the ruts left behind were, to say the least, memorable.  After rolling it all, I spread pasture seed, and hopefully we will have some nice growth by June!

  • The new pasture is adjacent to the dog’s fence.  They were keeping each other entertained for a good while yesterday! They kept running back and forth, and we were not really sure who was more scared…the dogs or the horses.  Thankfully, they seem better adjusted today!
  • One final note…Would it be too much to ask for two CONSECUTIVE days of sunny and mid-60’s???  This was a very nice weekend and I am not complaining, but today got chilly, especially with the wind!
