“And the rain, rain, rain; came down, down, down; in rushing little riv’lets; ‘Til the river crept out of its bed, and crept right into Piglets.”

  • Back before Christmas, this song popped into my head, due to the flooding rains at that time.  Seems it wouldn’t be the only time in these few months!  This flood, in terms of the stalls, was worse than the one a few months ago.  Once again, the dogs seemed to enjoy it.  Demon specifically, was jumping up and down into a pool of water in a large hole they had dug previously.  Once again, I played the role of party pooper and spread a BUNCH of Equine Fresh Pine Pellets everywhere and soak it all up.
  • The $15 rubber boots we bought from Tractor Supply were a GREAT investment!  We bought 5 pairs them several years ago, and they are still going strong.
  • Daisie’s puppies are now 11 days old, and growing big.  With 10 puppies, there is always the risk of one or two of them not getting enough mother’s milk.  We have to watch them a little closer.  There doesn’t seem to be an issue.  Have I mentioned that Daisie is a good mama?
  • All of the B&W pups are claimed.  We are keeping one, since we are likely to retire Daisie.  We are naming her Phoenix.  “The re-birth of Daisie”
  • We still have available, 4 all-white males, and 1 all-white female.
  • Meanwhile, we wait for Rose.  Around another week or two.  Stall prep has begun, since Daisie is already claiming the normal birthing stall.  We have to make another, and make it rain-proof as well as warm.  It’s getting warmer as the days go by, but the nights are still chilly.  So better safe than sorry.
  • It is warm enough now for the duck to move outside.  They are about a foot tall, and are now in the garage.  Soon, they will move outside where they will stay through fair.
  • The Turkeys are also around a foot tall.  They stay in the basement for a little while longer.
  • Yesterday, we celebrated Kallen’s birthday, and Thursday, we celebrate the birthday of Peyton and Denali’s only litter from 2012.  (Indy, Isis, Nanook, Kobe, Aspen, Kaia, and one other.)
  • In other news, The Reds are off to a dismal start…C’mon Reds!  Summers are much more enjoyable when you are winning!

Until next week…Let’s keep spoiling our Huskies!
