Wow…it’s been a while!  We’ve been out of town for a few days to visit family in VA Beach, and get a little R&R before the summer kicks in.  Summer is usually filled with projects, to-do’s, and events, so it was nice to get away for a few days beforehand.

  • First, a special thanks to Taylor for being the farm hand while we were away.  She took over the daily chores so that we could get away.
  • Before leaving, All of Daisie’s puppies went to their new homes.  Thanks again to all of the new puppy owners!  Feedback thus far has been great.
  • Phoenix, our new addition, is starting to meet all the big dogs one by one.  We had her out yesterday with Holly, Akira, Chance, and Big Sister Nadia.  These four are normally a concern so we always go with them first.  No issues, as Phoenix ran and played with them and had a great time.  One by one, we will introduce the others.  Demon and Denali will likely go first, then Miya and Aleu, then Kallen.  Rose will have to wait a few weeks until after her pups are long gone.  Daisie still wants to nurse her so she will have to wait as well.
  • The reason Kallen goes last?  Because he is a butthead.  He always tries to bully the newcomers, especially the small ones.  He will need to be closely watched as always.
  • Rose’s puppies are now 4 ½ weeks old.  We have begun the weaning process, and so far they are liking the yummy food.  At this point, we still have one available red and white male.
  • After Rose, the summer litters should be in the neighborhood of the 4th of July.  Aleu, Miya, and possibly Holly are next in line.  More on that as the time approaches.
  • The ducks and turkeys are getting bigger and bigger!  The 4 show turkeys now stand two feet tall and probably weigh 20-25 lbs.  We are shooting for 50 lbs for the fair turkeys.  The other 8 are a little smaller, but should still end up 20-40 lbs.
  • It won’t be long it will be time to cut, bale, and stack the first cut of hay.  Last year, we got 160 bales on the first cut.  Hopefully we can achieve that this year!
  • Time to get ready for graduation!  Both Jenna and Meranda graduate this year.  (This weekend to be exact)  It's hard to believe!  This leaves only Zach still in school, and he will be in the 8th grade next year.
  • This weeks pictures of Rose's puppies will be soon!  We arrived home late yesterday and didn't get a chance to take them.  The pups are definitely getting big!
  • And one more thing...Happy belated birthday to Holly and Brutus' 2010 litter this past Saturday.  Blaze, Gizmo, Maximus, Mishka, Sasha, Nala, and Cane.  Four years old!
