A little late this week, but here's what's happening down on the farm:
- Daisie's pups are now 5 weeks old (tomorrow), and are a handful! They went in for their vet check-up yesterday, and are good to go! They are about 90% weaned, and will soon be fully weaned. Daisie didn't give us much choice this time around. At about 4 weeks, she pretty much shut them down. Other than the occasional snack, Daisie has avoided them. But that's ok. That many puppies is simply too much to keep up with for her! We started them on a "milkshake" puppy food dinner, similar to what we feed Chance. Gradually we increased them to eat straight sift food, and now we are adding some kibble. This weekend, they will likely go to mostly kibble.
- The pups are playful as can be. They are like a swarm of bees chasing you around when out to play. Rule of thumb...just don't stop!
- As of this writing, 8 of the 10 puppies are sold, with 2 white males remaining. This litter has the deepest blue eyes you'll ever see!
- Rose's puppies are now two weeks old, and are gradually opening their eyes. Still cannot tell color, but that will be soon. Five of her eight are sold, with the final black and white being sale pending. The two remaining are both red and white, one boy and one girl.
- We are going to be uncertain on the status of Holly for a while. We know she is in her heat cycle, but an injury to her front foot has left the mating process to be very difficult. As of now, we have not witnessed a mating. So with her, it's wait and see.
- Aleu meanwhile, has tied with Kallen. So there will be at least one non-registered litter this summer!
