As the summer comes to a close, we prepare for the upcoming autumn and winter.  This is certainly the dogs favorite time of the year, and they already seem to enjoy the nicer weather. 
  • Miya's puppies are 5 weeks old now, and are as playful as can be.  They are now at the point of full weaning, and seem to have taken to the 4-Health canned food very well.  Soon, they will be able to the the 4-Health kibble as well.  We will be separating Miya from them today.  She really seems to want a break from them!
  • As is typical, The older they get the more food Miya needs while nursing.  The last week has been tough on her, and she will eat around 5 times her normal amount of food.  We always give the mothers the 4-Health puppy food, and supplement with liver, heart, etc.  Even with all that, she still thins out.  Once separated, it will take her a week to 10 days to recover, have her milk dry up, and start to get back to normal.
  • In about two more weeks, it's time for our Husky Reunion!  We are getting some responses, but there are still a lot that haven't responded.  If you are reading this and haven't let us know whether or not you will be attending, please contact us and let us know!
  • Going back to the 4-Health brand dog food, I was going to do a "Tuesday Tech Talk" on food, but computer issues (AGAIN!) and busy work scheduled prevented me from putting together a decent post.  So, in lieu of that post, I will share a website we found that I found interesting.  It's simply more fuel to the fire that shows how bad typical over the counter dog food is.  The website promotes the raw food diet, which is ok if that's what you want to do, but that is up the individual person.  Here it is:  http://www.bestcatanddognutrition.com/?cat=7
  • Happy 1/2 year Birthday to all of the puppies from Holly and Kallens litter! Ally, Smokey, Jax, Nakita, Dee, Dyno, Ares, Chance, and 2 others!
