• Daisie is starting to behave like her cycle will be soon.  More moody, more talkative, and bouncing off the walls, etc.  Meanwhile, the boys are starting to show interest.
  • Speaking of which, Denali has a nice little gash on the top of his foot.  A result of him and Demon fighting through the stall wall.  So it’s nurse Heather to the rescue.  It’s healing nicely now, and we moved Denali and Daisie to the corner.
  • Due to the extra cold nights, I am having to pay closer attention to the water buckets.  They are electric, but they are plugged in near the horses.  Hunter has a tendency to stick his head out and bump them until they unplug themselves.  It doesn’t take long for the horses buckets and the dogs buckets to freeze over once unplugged.  And when it’s this cold, they freeze hard.  Looks like this weekend’s project is to move where they plug in or protect them somehow.  Not necessarily an easy thing!
  • It also gets tougher to watch them when they are out playing when it is this cold.  I will stay out with them for a while, and them watch from the house.  Luckily, their fastest escape route, rolling under the fence, is very tough this time of year because the fence is frozen to the ground.
  • It’s also that time of the year when I will close up the barn when I am out working, and let 2-3 of them out to run around the barn with me.  They seem to enjoy it, but since I can only deal with a couple the others get jealous!  They don’t grasp the “It’s not your turn” concept.  The biggest issue with this though is the cats.  I have to be sure they are out of the barn, and can’t get in.  If only they weren’t so darn curious!
