• As mentioned in a previous post, we are anxiously awaiting the birth of Nadia and Chance's puppies.  They are due over the next week or so.  This litter will be a little different than all the others in the past.  Being Nadia and Chance are house Huskies, this will be a learning experience.  We have everything planned as far as keeping Nadia and the puppies separated from Chance and Akira.
  • The biggest issue is that Chance has no trouble escaping the fenced area.  We always have to watch him closely when he is out.  He will now have to spend a lot of extra time outside so this obviously presents a problem.
  • The solution is relatively simple, and the project is underway.  It's time to put up an electric strip around the base of the fence.  We've been wanting to do this for not only Chance, but for all of them.  The hope is this will make the fence virtually escape proof.  I will note in this blog and on Facebook how well it works, in case anyone else wants to try.
  • Daisie, as mentioned the other day looks like she finally started her heat cycle as well.  We expected this around Christmas time, so she is a little late.  This is fairly typical.  One can only guesstimate when it will start.
  • If all goes well, Daisie should have her puppies (Denali the father) around the end of March, and ready to go to their new homes around Memorial Day!
  • It won't be long it will be time to purchase our fair turkeys and ducks, and start that project.  Turkeys will have a learning curve, so we will see how that goes.
  • Not much else going on...We just sit and wait.  Wait for Nadia, Daisie, and Spring!
