What's going on in our world...2-26-14

- Yesterday the puppies turned 5 weeks old, and they are becoming more and more ornery and playful. They love chasing everyone around, including Chance, Nadia, Akira, Billy, and of course all of us.
- Their appetites are enormous, (as is typical) and now they are completely weaned from mama. It becomes tough to keep them apart, but we’ve been successful. The biggest issue is the nighttime whining. Thank goodness, for the sake of everyone’s sanity, they quiet down eventually!
- When the puppies are in the barn (as is normal), the issue becomes the whining disturbing the neighbors. That’s an entirely different problem, but it’s something we’ve learned to work through. Some are worse than others. Rose and Aleu are the worst, while Holly, Daisie, and Miya are much easier. Nadia falls right in the middle.
- The two white males are still available. Historically, this is a slower time of the year, and the white males are the least popular. They couldn’t be more cute and playful though!
- They will all be going in for their vet check on Monday. After that they receive their shots. The sold pups will go to their new homes the weekend of the 7th.
- Billy has had his hands (paws) full lately. He isn’t so much scared of the adult dogs, but the puppies are a different story! They really just want to play, but they are relentless. The photo below is Billy trying his best to escape the puppy madness.

- Speaking of Billy, I have in the past, prevented altercations between he and the barn dogs, simply because I like Billy and I know he would have no chance. He is a very courageous cat and that tends to leave him in dangerous situations. However, I never thought I would have stop an altercation because I was afraid for the dog. This was the case in the house recently between Billy and Nadia. Let me say it here first…Nadia is the world’s biggest pansy! Billy was reared back ready to go on the offensive and even took a couple swipes. Needless to say, I ended it quickly.
- Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the death of Buckeye Dan our horse. RIP Dan, you will always be a part of Frosty Meadow Farms!
- Coming up in a couple weeks (3-18) is the one year old birthday of Holly and Kallen’s 2013 litter. This is the litter that included Chance. It’s been a long rough road for Chance (aka Peanut, aka Scrappy, aka Crackhead), but he is as happy and healthy as can be! He still needs his milkshake diet, but it’s become routine for both us and him. Little did we know that when we bought a “Magic Bullet” several years ago, that it would get this kind of use! It’s held up very well!
- In closing, we all get to go back to watching the weather for more snow/ice. After a very brief warm up, winter is back. I don’t mind winter, and I know the dogs like it, but enough is enough already! I am ready for spring!
